The Stage 2 fire restrictions have been lifted for the Coconino. Remember, the gate must be kept closed at all times due to cattle grazing. Please shut it behind you as you enter/exit. |

The lack of rain has prevented the lifting of the fire danger, and that in turn has cancelled the Williams fireworks, and therefore our job of parking attendants. The July 9th USPSA fundraiser has also been cancelled.

The City Council has approved fireworks for this 4th of July (barring high fire danger or red flag wind warnings). The Chamber is putting together a hometown party at the Rodeo Grounds on July 4th, with live entertainment, bake sales, dunk tank, etc. Our Williams Sportsman's Club has been offered the task of providing the parking attendants for this event. The Chamber plans to charge $5 per carload, and will split the profits 50-50 with us for our service. This is a great opportunity to earn some money to go toward our costs. We need to have 12-14 volunteers who will commit to being at the Rodeo grounds from about 4pm to 8:30 (or when the parking fills up). What will the club use this money for? Our next project at the range is to build shade structures at all bays, and then we will probably look at signage that will meet the Forest Service requirements. We also will renew our insurance for the club for the use of the range, and are in the process of becoming a tax exempt organization (filing fees!!). Please RSVP to vickia@williamssportsmansclub.org if you can help with this activity! THANKS!! |

April 16th was the date of our first Ham Shoot and it was a success! 18 shooters took part in the contest, purchasing 34 targets. Targets were a V shape, with the goal of getting your shot inside the V, closest to the point of the V as possible, WITHOUT BREAKING THE INK! That last item was the killer, for if you broke the ink, the target was disqualified. Unfortunately, a few of us did have our targets disqualified (we WON'T mention names here)! All was not lost if your target was disqualified, as you could purchase a second chance for $5! All in all, everyone had a lot of fun, and raised $166.33 for the Williams Youth Center Skate Park improvements after the prizes were purchased. And a big congratulations to our winners: Scott S (1st) and Jeff (2nd) - Shoot What You Bring 100 yards. Jerry (1st) - Shoot What You Bring 50 yards. Brandon (1st) - Pistol. Bethany K (1st) - Rimfire 50 yards. Anthony V (1st) - Youth Rimfire 50 yards. |

A new committee, open Board position, and Chief Range Officer (CRO) position all need to be filled. Any current Range Safety Officer can apply for the CRO position. This position will schedule future RSO classes, and make sure there are RSOs for all range activities. To apply for the CRO position or the open Board position go to the Forms page, print the Indication of Interest form and fill it out. Then mail the form to the WSC (address on the bottom of the form).
The new committee being formed is the Grant Committee. This committee will find and apply for grants that will allow us to further develop the City of Williams Range to make the range more enjoyable for all. If interested in serving on the Grant Committee please e-mail blange4u@yahoo.com

In the February 12th meeting of the board, several items of interest were discussed or acted on.
First, the road to the range is VERY muddy, which forces us to keep the range closed on Saturday.
Second, the club by-laws have been approved. To view the by-laws, please go to the "Members Only" portion of the web site, and go to the By-Laws page to download a copy of the by-laws.
Additional items: Look forward to more information on a "shoot" that will benefit the youth of Williams, and a new committee that will be formed shortly. The information on the new committee will be posted on the web site, and will be emailed to all club members. Information on the shoot will be posted using several different options. |
